Smile kingdoms

Ok hears my pitch

I think we should be able to rule a kingdom like u get ur own personal kindom you have to get it like a guild hall so you need a sigil to show you are worthy and then you can add things to your kingdom like crafters and farmers which can make you items like ale (always a personal fav) and materials as well as alot more stuff wich you can sell as you gain fame you get more people in you kingdom which can get you money as you can set taxes but you have to pay your workers so it would bring in a profit and ease on farming and be more fun. You also have to make sure you have guards to fend of invading charr and undead.

wat you think or anything you wish to add?

Well, personaly, i like the idea of being able to be your own entreprenuer (please correct if spelling is wrong). But, i dont think they should be kingdoms, just be able to set up a shop of goods for sale in your guild hall, and have like a master list of guild hall shops to be able to select from.

Sounds like you would rather play a real-time strategy game than a role-playing game. There's no point in having your own kingdom, it would take up a lot of bandwidth, and so on.

You know my personal favs are those few games that actually combine rts and rpg gameplay, I think this kingdom Idea would be alot of fun, especially if it could be a guild effort, and not just guild leader.

However Acheus is right, as an online game this would take up huge amounts of bandwidth, and because of the mass number of players in GW, this could never happen in such a large scale. I'm sure many ideas could be implemented in small amounts however. Such as adding the various traders to your guild hall so that you could go to your guild hall to do some selling or whatnot without having to deal with the bustle and spamming and what not in the big cities like LA and Ascalon City, or the Forge.

hmm it would be nice, but instead of the kingdom why not just the guild hall to compensate?

Ok, you people who are saying, NO THIS ISNT RTS. First of all, what's so wrong about combining good ideas. I don't agree with the WHOLE kingdom, just a trade market for your guild hall. Simply put an npc character on which your guild mates and you can stock goods and set a price for them, simple as that.
Second of all, you're just flaming his idea, by basically repeating one thing after another about how his idea is no good without giving supporting evidence, you're basically saying, "it's not a good idea, because it's not a good idea."

1- eventually there will be no line between genres (except for the fantasy/real world/sci-fi line). I will be able to log into my Future Wars and run down the street with a rifle for FPS action, jump into a car and play a racing game, track down a criminal for a strategy/puzzle game, buy an apartment complex/theme park for a sim game, run for mayor for a city building game... all within one massive world

2- the technology is nowhere near ready for this kind of complete unification, give it another 5 or 10 years for what you're asking for, give it another 25 for what I'm asking for.

3- good idea

Bandwidth probably wouldn't be a problem if these kingdons/zones becaome instanced districts similiar to the cities. Then again...maybe they would. I gather as it is that each guild hall is instanced when the guild members enter it, right? Why not just use the guild halls for that purpose?
